Yoga and Fitness

yogapicLeslie began her yoga journey while in college. She took her first real class from Lydie Ometto and was hooked. Leslie began to take more and more classes in various styles and loved how it made her body feel. Yoga was a great physical relief from her dance schedule and her hours in the gym (teaching and weightlifting). Yoga complimented her crazy physical life and was a place of refuge. Upon graduating from college she started recovery from a life long battle with eating disorders and an exercise addiction. Yoga was her main therapeutic tool.  While using yoga as therapy she knew she wanted to teach yoga. She received her 200 hour certification from Mountain Yoga in her hometown of Johnson City, TN withJennifer Chisam eRYT. Jennifer’s heavy background in kinesiology and anatomy struck a chord with Leslie since that was her background as well.

Leslie bases her yoga philosophy on two Sanskrit words, shanti (peace) and leela (play); finding inner peace through the play and practice of yoga. This is evident in how she approaches class, with humor and a laid back attitude. Leslie believes that every body is a yoga body and with her deep sense anatomy and kinesiology she can help you find your best yoga, posture that is!

Leslie’s goal is to become a yoga/exercise therapist and work with those who suffer from depression, anxiety, addictions, and eating disorders.
